Coronation Street's Gary Windass left devastated as key character moves out

Coronation Street's Gary Windass is set to be left devastated in scenes set to air next week, as he feels like his family might be falling apart at the seams. Earlier this year, Gary helped Sarah Platt cover up her killing of evil Theo Silverton, and it's caused huge tensions with Maria Connor already.
Things are set to get even more heated next week, as Gary tells Maria that he's been given a date for his court hearing.

He tells Jake and Liam that it might end up with him going to prison, which causes the boys to get upset.
The next day, Gary hears from the school that Jake has been suspended for fighting. Back home, Jake continues to act out and has a go at Gary for risking everything and putting Sarah above his own family. Afterwards, while Gary and Maria go to the pub, Jake packs his rucksack and leaves.
Gary returns home and finds Jake isn't in his bed. He calls Izzy Armstrong, who thankfully confirms that Jake had stayed with her.
Unfortunately, she also tells him that Jake is adamant that he doesn't want to live with Gary anymore. He's left feeling even more upset when she comes round to collect his things.

Jake eventually agrees to meet Gary in the café, but he won't listen to any of Gary's pleas and refuses to come back any time soon. Maria tries to comfort Gary by telling him that Sarah won't let him down and that he won't be sent to prison, and then Jake will come back to them. Gary hopes that she's right.
"Helping Sarah to cover up her role in Theo's death is proving to be one of the worst decisions that Gary has ever made," our soap insider said.
"Gary's devastated when it has a serious impact on his family life - and with a possible jail sentence looming, the worst may still be to come..."
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
