There were 16 election-related incidents recorded in the first parliamentary elections in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) held on Monday, the Police Regional Office – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) said Monday evening.

"Regionwide, we have 16 election-related incidents. Kabilang na yung (This includes) shooting incidents, trapping incidents and explosion incidents," PRO BAR regional director Police Brigadier General Christopher Abecia said during a press briefing at the Comelec Command Center in Cotabato City.

He shared details of the recorded election-related incidents.

Based on Comelec's latest count, there were four fatalities and 19 injured persons in election-related incidents in BARMM.

Three of those who died and 15 injured persons were at a shootout at Datu Usman Mampen school site in Barangay Bagua 2, Cotabato City.

One person died and three others were wounded after violence erupted at the Pilot Central Elementary School in Cotabato City, as supporters of rival parties traded accusations of election violence.

Another person was injured after the improvised explosion device or IED he was carrying exploded.

Comelec en banc on early Monday decided to place two areas, Cotabato City and Maluso in Basilan, under Comelec control due to incidents of violence and discovery of pre-shaded ballots.

The poll body reported that 36 of the 68 precints were compromised in Maluso town, as the poll body discovered that all of the ballots were pre-shaded. — BAP, GMA News
