Shailene Woodley Covers Emmys 2026 Look With a T-Shirt at After-Party

Inside the Emmys’ Fashion Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker, Zendaya, Lisa & More

The Emmys were just another day in paradise for Shailene Woodley.

After all, the 34-year-old headed into the Sept. 14 ceremony already a winner, having won for her guest role in Paradise at the Creative Arts Emmys days earlier.

But while her performance as Annie was universally adored, Woodley’s red carpet look left the internet a little more divided. The outfit in question arrived straight from Balenciaga’s F/W 26 haute couture collection and featured gold sequined pants, a plunging, periwinkle-colored tank top and maroon leather gloves that crept up past her elbows.

Though Woodley rocked the bold ensemble throughout the Emmys ceremony, when it came time to head to Disney’s after-party at Vibiana in Los Angeles, the Fault in Our Stars alum swapped her tank top for a t-shirt repping the 1986 film Home of the Brave.

While Paradise headed into this year’s Emmys with seven nominations—including a spot on the Outstanding Drama list alongside The DiplomatThe Gilded AgeA Knight of the Seven KingdomsThe PittPluribusSlow Horses and Your Friends & Neighbors—Woodley proved to be the series’ only win this year.

In season two of the show—which also stars Sterling K. Brown and Julianne Nicholson—Woodley brought to life the character of Annie, whose story viewers follow from the moment the show’s natural disaster strikes through her fateful meeting with Thomas Doherty’s Link.

But whereas Annie is defined by an unchanging level-headedness in the face of ultimate stress, Woodley says she and her character have different approaches to life.

“Annie and I are actually very different, which was fun to play somebody that was very different than who I am,” she told People in April. “I think the one point of relation is we’re both quite resilient, but the way that we practice that resiliency is different. I’m an emotional roller coaster sometimes and Annie is quite linear, I think, in her approach and practical.”

But in addition to being attracted to Annie’s persona, there was something about Paradise as a whole that made the series an easy yes.

“I am drawn in, generally, by things that feel honest and authentic,” Woodley explained. “Even if it’s in a heightened reality or within the confines of an absurd character. As long as there’s honesty in it.”

As for the jaw-dropping season two finale—no spoilers here, we promise—Woodley is as in the dark as the fans.

“This sounds crazy, but I’m excited to see what happens in Paradise season 3 because I have no idea,” she admitted. “And I don’t want to know, so I’m on the edge of my seat like being a fan of the show.”
