Lenny Kravitz Did Not Die in Learjet Crash; Rep Shuts Down Viral Rumor as ‘Untrue and Incorrect’

Translate

Reports that Lenny Kravitz was a passenger aboard the Learjet plane that crashed in Florida are false, his representative has said.

The Learjet, which was reportedly carrying 9 passengers bound for the Bahamas, crashed on a sidewalk in Palm Beach County on Sunday, killing everybody on board.

Kravitz’s rep Carleen Donovan told Variety that viral reports the music icon was among the passengers are “untrue and incorrect.” The passengers of the plane have not yet been named.

A screenshot on X went viral soon after the crash which purported to show the plane’s pilot having posted on social media she was flying the music icon on the same route.

“Honored to be flying the one and only Lenny Kravitz from AUS [in Austin] to ELH [in the Bahamas] tomorrow,” the post, from pilot Emily Shelton, said. “Looking forward to having him on board! ‘It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over’ is going to be playing in the cockpit.”

However, Shelton was not piloting the plane. The female pilot on board the jet has been named by the New York Post as Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras. The male pilot has not yet been named.

Shelton also denied being the co-pilot in a post on what appears to be her TikTok account, where she wrote: “I was recently made aware that there are rumours that I was the pilot of the recent crash in Palm Beach. I would like to respectfully clarify I was not. I ask that people please stop speculating and spreading misinformation on this tragedy and be respectful of those involved. My heart goes out to all those lost and affected.”

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office are investigating the cause of the crash.
