AMP Boards Worldwide Sales On Topical Techno-Horror ‘Modem’ – AFM

Translate

EXCLUSIVE: Alliance Media Partners (AMP) has boarded worldwide sales on Modem, a timely techno horror tapping into the contemporary human obsession with digital connectivity, ahead of the AFM.

The picture unfolds against the backdrop of a family digital detox vacation in a house in a Swedish forest which takes a terrifying turn when a teenager discovers an old modem and unwittingly awakens a dormant, sadistic demon when it is fired up.

The sinister presence torments the family, and when their two-year-old suddenly vanishes, fear spirals into hysteria and paranoia as the family confronts a terrifying force that has turned their connected world against them.

Modem is the directorial feature debut of Tim James Brown, who also wrote the screenplay, and stars Josh Burdett, Amanda Renberg, Nika Tallroth, Frederik Gunnarsson, Ylva Loof, Henrik Lundstrom.

“What makes Modem so intense is that it plays on the paranoia of technology – a paranormal stalker voyeuristically preying on its victims through their own digital devices. You can’t see it – it sees you,” said Brown.

The award-winning film has played at Raindance, the Stockholm City Film Festival and at the New York International Film Awards, and will make its market debut at the AFM.

AMP’s Head of Sales and Acquisitions Anthony Buckner negotiated the deal with Jonathan Sadler on behalf of the filmmakers.

‘Modem is exactly the kind of high-concept horror we’re excited to bring to the international market,” said Buckner.

“It taps into a universal modern-day obsession with being online and turns something we rely on every day into a source of genuine terror. With its compelling premise and chillingly relevant themes, we believe the film has strong potential to connect with young audiences worldwide.”
