Paris Saint-Germain have been ranked the best football team in the world, ahead of Arsenal and Barcelona, in a list compiled by football publication Planet Football.

Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Brighton & Hove Albion complete the top 10 in the ranking, which considers league performances, UEFA Champions League results and the teams’ overall form.

According to Planet Football on Wednesday, the rankings reflect how quickly the balance of power in football can change as teams move in and out of form throughout the season.

PSG occupy the top position, with their recent Champions League success cited as a major factor in their standing among Europe’s elite clubs.

Arsenal are ranked second, with their defensive strength and ability to make life difficult for opponents highlighted as key attributes.

Barcelona take third place, backed by their attacking quality and strong domestic record, although their prolonged wait for another Champions League title remains a concern.

Bayern Munich are fourth, followed by Spanish giants Real Madrid in fifth. Manchester City occupy sixth place, while Liverpool are ranked seventh in a list dominated by clubs from Europe’s leading domestic leagues.

Atletico Madrid are placed eighth, with Planet Football highlighting Diego Simeone’s team for their organisation and ability to compete against stronger opponents. Inter Milan sit ninth, recognised for their consistency in Italian football and repeated appearances in the Champions League’s latter stages.

Brighton complete the list in 10th place. Their attractive style of play and impressive performances, including a 3-0 victory over Arsenal, have strengthened their case among the leading teams in Europe.
