Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon on Friday scolded Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) officials for failing to pass control over CCTV cameras to the new private management of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

In a video report by GMA News' Gabriel Gonzales, Dizon could be seen fuming at MIAA officials for the delay in the transfer.

"Mahigit isang taon na 'yun eh… ang problema dito, walang single accountability," Dizon said. (It has been more than one year. The problem here is there is no single accountability.)

An airport official could be seen explaining to Dizon that they were waiting for the end of a contract before it transferred control of the CCTVs to the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC). However, Dizon said it has been too long.

The argument stemmed from a theft incident that occurred in the airport, but the security footage could not be seen.

"Simpleng-simple 'yung problema natin. May nanakawan, hindi natin makita-kita sa CCTV. Tapos kayong lahat… nagtuturuan kayong lahat. Kaya ako nabibuwisit sa inyo," Dizon said, who later cursed as he vented his anger.

(Our problem is very simple. There was a theft, and we could not see it in the CCTV. And all of you… you are pointing at one another. That is why I am so angry with all of you.)

In a separate video report from Gabriel Gonzales, Dizon explained that he was angry that it has been one year and a half since he ordered that control over the CCTVs be handed over to the NNIC.

"Binigyan ko sila ngayong November. 'Pag hindi pa nila nalipat 'yan sesante 'yung mga ito," Dizon said. (I gave them until November. If they do not transfer it, these people are fired.)

During his visit to the NAIA, Dizon also went to the area where the incident occurred. The Transportation secretary said footage has been found of the actual incident.

"I'm very, very happy to report na nahuli na at naibalik na, o na-recover na 'yung mga nanakaw. And according to the law enforcement natin dito, kumpleto 'yung mga nanakaw na items," Dizon said.

(I'm very, very happy to report that the thief has been caught and it has been returned, or the stolen items have been returned. And according to law enforcement officers here, the items stolen are complete.)

Dizon recently reassumed control of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) after switching Cabinet posts with now Public Works and Highways Secretary Giovanni Lopez. — VDV, GMA News
