Binibining Pilipinas Sasha Lacuna helped sustain the Philippines’ status as an international pageant powerhouse by extending the country’s placement streak at The Miss Globe competition held Friday afternoon, Nov. 6, in Thailand.

The university student from Tarlac managed a Top 11 finish at the final competition held at Siam Niramit Phuket, duplicating the placement of her predecessor Annabelle McDonnell at the 2025 contest held in Albania.

The Philippines’ placement streak started in 2015 when Ann Colis posted the country’s first victory under the current iteration of The Miss Globe pageant. Bb. Pilipinas Maricar Balagtas was crowned in 2001 under a previous version of the international pageant.

Lacuna earned her spot in the Top 21 through her Miss Social Media award, a recognition she received by topping the two rounds of online voting on the pageant’s social media pages.

The Bb. Pilipinas titleholder also landed a Top 6 placement at the national costume competition and was in the Top 10 of the preliminary swimsuit round. She also copped a Top 25 placement at the talent contest, and was in the Top 12 of the “Head-to-Head” challenge.

The crown eventually went to Vietnamese bet Nguyen Thu Thao, placing Vietnam in a triple-tie with the Philippines and Albania as the countries with the most wins under the current iteration of the international pageant with two titleholders each.

Nguyen bested 51 other aspirants from around the world to inherit the crown from 2025 winner Cheraim Chayathanus Saradatta, the first Thai woman to be crowned The Miss Globe, nine years since Do Tran Khanh Ngan scored Vietnam’s first-ever victory in 2017.

Host delegate Nam Ing Suttida Aladpu from Thailand failed to score back-to-back wins for her country and settled for the first runner-up spot. Filipino-trained Maria Zheliaskova from Ukraine was second runner-up.

Sybel Hoekman from the Netherlands was proclaimed third runner-up, while “Miss People’s Choice” Pilar Macias from Argentina rounded out the winners’ circle as fourth runner-up.

Maureen Montagne remains to be the last winner from the Philippines for now. She was crowned The Miss Globe at the competition held in Albania in 2021. /ra
