The House of Representatives has approved a resolution requesting the Senate’s consent to extend the session to October 12, 2026, for the approval of the proposed 2027 national budget on third and final reading.
House Resolution 1501 was filed by House Speaker Faustino Dy III, Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan, and House Appropriations Committee Chair Mikaela Suansing.
Suansing earlier told GMA News that the House is scheduled to approve the proposed 2027 national budget on second reading on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The House had earlier targeted to approve the said bill on third and final reading on October 9, the last day of session.
But if the bill is approved on second reading on Oct. 7, copies of the bill must be distributed to all members of the House three days before its third reading.
The third day will fall on Oct 12.
The resolution was read in plenary on Monday afternoon.
After its approval, the House will transmit the resolution to the Senate. —LDF, GMA News
