Watch Dave Grohl join AC/DC for ‘Highway To Hell’ at final ‘Power Up’ tour show

Dave Grohl joined AC/DC on stage for ‘Highway To Hell’ at the final date of their ‘Power Up’ tour. Check out footage below.
The Aussie rock legends played New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Friday night (October 2), with Foo Fighters serving as support after the show was rescheduled from September 25 due to severe weather.
Midway through AC/DC’s set, Brian Johnson revealed that Grohl had asked to join the band for their 1979 classic.
“Hey everybody, we got something to tell you. You better listen up close now,” Johnson told the crowd. “A very good friend of ours asked us today if he could come up and join us for ‘Highway To Hell’. And we said, ‘Yes Dave, you can.’”

Grohl then emerged with a guitar to perform the track alongside Johnson, Angus Young and co. Watch footage below.
The collaboration came after Grohl used Foo Fighters’ own opening set to explain just how important AC/DC had been to him as a child.
“When I was 11 years old and I went to a midnight movie, and I saw the Let There Be Rock movie in the fucking movie theatre, at 11 years old, I didn’t know that rock’n’roll could be like that,” he said.
“I didn’t know that rock’n’roll was sweat and blood and fucking tears and every ounce of energy you had.”
Grohl continued: “I saw that movie, I was 11 years old, I said, ‘I want to do that for the rest of my fucking life.’ So here we are… I’m going to live my childhood dream again, tonight.”

Friday’s concert was the second time in less than a month that the Foos had opened for AC/DC. They stepped in for The Pretty Reckless in St. Louis on September 8, despite the booking initially being billed as a “one night only” appearance.
Ahead of that first show, Grohl described sharing a bill with AC/DC as “literally a dream come true”, recalling how seeing Let There Be Rock in 1980 had set the standard for his own approach to live performance.
After Foo Fighters’ St. Louis set, he joked: “I don’t know if we’ll ever open for AC/DC again, although honestly I think it’d be a great fucking tour.”
The MetLife Stadium date ultimately became the final show of AC/DC’s two-year ‘Power Up’ tour, which began in Gelsenkirchen, Germany in May 2024 and was launched in support of the band’s 2020 album ‘Power Up’.
AC/DC have not announced what comes next, although Johnson left the possibility of another return open as the show came to a close.
“Thank you everyone… we love you, we have to say bye-bye now,” he told the audience. “We hope we’ll see you again. So bye-bye, goodnight and tell your grandkids about this night.”
Foo Fighters, meanwhile, released their 12th album ‘Your Favorite Toy’ in April.
Their recent North American ‘Take Cover’ tour has included dates with Queens Of The Stone Age, while they also played two huge shows at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium in June.
In NME’s four-star review of the first Liverpool date, Andrew Trendell wrote: “Foos don’t have the bells, whistles, pyro, or blockbuster special effects of other standard stadium acts, just tunes and banter.”
