Rosie O’Donnell Says Wynonna Judd Is the Only Trump Supporter She Talks To: ‘I Give Her Grace’ Despite His ‘Misogyny, Racism and Homophobia’

Rosie O’Donnell announced on “The Tangle” podcast (via EW) that country music singer Wynonna Judd is the only Trump supporter she speaks to these days. O’Donnell, who has been making the press rounds to support her one-woman Off Broadway show “Common Knowledge” and her upcoming guest hosting stint on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” has been publicly feuding with Trump for decades and moved from the U.S. to Ireland after Trump’s 2024 re-election.

“I don’t really have any people in my life who support him. I think it would be very difficult to do that,”  O’Donnell said. “Now, I am friends with Wynonna Judd, who I love very much, and I’ve known her for many, many years. And she is a supporter of Trump. And somehow, we never bring it up. I kind of give her a grace in a way. She’s had so much in her life with her mom taking her own life and just the complicated nature of her upbringing, and I really love her and I care about her, and for some reason, I’m able to put that aside when we interact.”

“But aside from Wy, I can’t think of anyone else in my life who supports him, and I don’t understand the people who do,” the TV icon added. “His cruelty is so blatant, his criminal behavior is so obvious. His misogyny, his racism, his homophobia. He’s just a very dark spirit, and I don’t know why that’s not obvious to the world.”

In previous interviews with Variety, O’Donnell defended her decision to leave the U.S. after Trump was re-elected. “When would it be safe to come back with my child?” she asked. “I’m not going to push it before this administration is completely finished, and hopefully held accountable for their crimes.”

As for dealing with MAGA backlash when Trump comes for her on social media (he posted an AI-generated video on Truth Social this summer mocking O’Donnell and other detractors), the TV personality said that she “hasn’t gotten any physical threats” from Trump’s supporters so far.

“People will sometimes say mean things about me online, which I don’t take to heart because everyone is a keyboard warrior behind the mask. I don’t take it seriously,” O’Donnell said. “I don’t listen to what a deranged person would yell at me randomly on the street, and don’t listen to what MAGA people have to say about my opinions. I really don’t.”

O’Donnell returns to TV as the guest host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” beginning Monday.
