Pokémon's 30th anniversary brought with it a bunch of exciting announcements and initiatives designed to mark the occasion and make it special for fans at home. Though a lot of those efforts were directed towards the TCG, there was plenty going on besides, including confirmation that Winds and Waves would become the first video games of the tenth generation.
As you might expect, any time Pokémon transitions into another generation entirely, it's a pretty big moment for the franchise as a whole. The biggest reason for this is all the new 'mons that it brings along with it, but it also lays out the general course for years to come, until we transition into (presumably) another generation.
The only issue is that, since its initial announcement, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have remained very quiet on the details ever since. Happily, now it seems that they might have to break cover, after new leaks revealed details they clearly weren't ready to share just yet.
As first reported by GameRant, new information from three known Pokémon leakers, suggests that Winds and Waves will release in November 2027. The three individuals involved are Centro Leaks, Kurwa, and Ball Guy, who have seen some notable wins (and some notable losses) in their predictions in the past.
The situation remains that we know Winds and Waves are coming at some point in 2027, and given how little we have heard about it up to this point, it seems unlikely that it will be dropping in the first few months of next year. That leaves November as a viable possibility that sticks to the rough schedule and format that the developer has used in the past, but given that the developer has already broken from their usual release calendar significantly, it's far from a guarantee.
At the same time, there's also the additional doubt created by the fact that November 2027 is still a long way away. Even if that's the current, genuine intention of the developer and publisher, plenty could happen between now and then to disrupt that.
Equally, the other leaks that have been coming out around the content of the game have all made it sound considerably grander in scope than previous efforts. Given how much the Pokémon games have needed a leap forward in recent editions, it wouldn't be a surprise to see them take further time to really deliver something special to fans.
Either way, we'll just have to take it with a pinch of salt and wait to hear more from those in charge about what exactly their plans are for Pokémon Winds and Waves. Don't expect to be playing it very soon in any case. Let's just hope it proves to be worth the wait when it does get here.
