WEST END FINAL

A four-year-old girl has died in east London after falling from a tower block.

The Metropolitan police said officers are investigating the death, but they are not currently treating the incident as suspicious.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were alerted at about 11am on Saturday to reports that a child had fallen from a height in Barking.

The Met have since confirmed the young girl died from her injuries.

A Met spokeswoman said: “Police were called at 11am on Saturday, October 24, to reports of a child falling from height at an address in St Paul's Road, Barking.

“The girl, aged four, was taken to hospital but, very sadly, later died from her injuries.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the child's family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

“An investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident is ongoing. However, at this time, the incident is not believed to be suspicious.”

A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said it sent ambulance crews, a clinical team manager, an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic practitioner and London’s air ambulance to the scene.

“We treated a child at the scene before taking the patient to a London major trauma centre,” the service said.

The Met has urged those with information about the incident to contact police on 101, quoting the reference CAD 2424/24OCT.
