SEPANG: Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir thanked supporters for their strong support amid the ongoing dispute over his position as the state ruler.

Tuanku Muhriz arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 to chants of "Daulat Tuanku" from supporters who had gathered since 8pm.

"Thank you for the strong support. I'll return to the palace — where else would I go?

"I'm back to resolve this problem, God Willing," said Tuanku Muhriz as he emerged from the Special Lounge at Terminal 1 at 10.40pm.

The Ruler was accompanied by Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud and their son, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin.

Earlier today, Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim confirmed that the proclamation removing Tuanku Muhriz as Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negri Sembilan had been approved.

He said the decision was unanimously endorsed by all members of the state executive council at its meeting on Tuesday, and that the state secretary had been instructed to proceed with its gazettement in accordance with existing regulations.

The state government said the proclamation and the appointment of Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Jaafar as the new Yang di-Pertuan Besar were valid under the state constitution.

However, the DKU maintains that Tuanku Muhriz remains the lawful Yang di-Pertuan Besar and that the April 19 proclamation was defective from the outset.

The DKU also disputed the status of several Undang involved in the proclamation.

Separately, the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) said the menteri besar and state executive council do not have the unilateral power to remove or vacate the position of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.

The AGC said the proclamation was invalid as it did not comply with the mandatory requirements of Article 10 of the state Constitution, particularly as there was no evidence that any of the disqualifying grounds under Article 10(1) applied to Tuanku Muhriz.
