Tokyo has at long last emerged from a record string of 37 consecutive days of rain, bringing warm and sunny days to a population that endured a scorching summer followed by a deluge of gloom.

The run of rain was much more than a nuisance for commuters and a downer for cooped up kids.

The Kanto region experienced historically low levels of sunlight in September as the rain continued.
