Degel HaTorah leader Rabbi Lando says haredim only need to rely on God, not any prime minister
"We are not dependent on this person or that person, or on one prime minister or another, but only on the Creator of the world," he declared.
Degel HaTorah leader Rabbi Dov Lando said that the Haredi community does not need to rely on any particular prime minister and depends solely on God, speaking before thousands of people in Tiberias on Wednesday.
"We are not dependent on this person or that person, or on one prime minister or another, but only on the Creator of the world," he declared. "We all hope and pray that He will have mercy on His people, and particularly on the world of Torah."
Lando recently decried members of the modern Orthodox community who support the enlistment of yeshiva students, arguing that the state sends soldiers to wars that are fought not only for the purpose of saving lives but also "for the honor of the state."
He made the remarks during a meeting at his home with Mir Yeshiva head Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel and the yeshiva's spiritual supervisor, Rabbi Binyamin Finkel.
Lando claimed Israel 'incites to murder for the honor of the state'
"If the state sends people, soldiers, for the honor of the state, and people are killed, is that also permitted? Actual murder.
“Then they are inciting to murder; that is what they are doing. They wage wars not only for the purpose of saving lives, but for the honor of the state. The wicked are here; what can be done? There are wicked people, including among those in the modern Orthodox community, who are no better than them," he said.
