The Trump administration is pushing to re-evaluate a key permit for Ørsted's (DNNGY) Revolution Wind project that began operating this year off the Rhode Island coast, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.
According to a filing Friday, the U.S. Justice Department asked a federal court to remand the Interior Department’s approval of a construction and operations plan for the Ørsted (DNNGY) wind farm that began producing power in March.
The Interior Department agreed the move is "warranted so that the agency can revaluate its compliance with the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act," the filing said.
The Trump administration previously sought to block construction of Revolution Wind, a joint venture between Ørsted (DNNGY) and Global Infrastructure Partners, but the project was more than 95% complete as of August, with 61 of 65 turbines installed.
The latest move threatens to undermine a recent deal between Senate Democrats and Republicans to reform the U.S. permitting system for infrastructure projects, which included assurances that the Trump administration would stop blocking fully permitted wind and solar developments.
