Mazlan Ahmad appointed Zico Trust director

Chartered accountant Mazlan Ahmad has been appointed a non-executive independent director of Zico Trust (M) Bhd’s board, effective Sept 23.

Mazlan, an adviser to the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission’s enforcement focus group, is also a member of the executive councils of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

He founded the Masyi Group of Companies and is also the deputy chairman of Yayasan Waqaf Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Miskin Malaysia.

Mazlan also held advisory roles in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Malaysia Productivity Corporation, and the Special Taskforce for the Corruption Perception Index.

He serves as a professor of practice at INCEIF University and an adjunct professor at International Islamic University Malaysia.

Zico Trust managing director Jeevan M Sundaram said Mazlan spent the majority of his career working in institutions that uphold integrity, accountability and good governance.

“These principles are equally fundamental to the trust industry, where families place their assets with us on the strength of standards they may never see applied themselves.

“His experience will help us continue to uphold those standards and strengthen the trust placed in Zico Trust,” Jeevan said in a press release.

Mazlan said he was honoured to join Zico Trust, which he described as a trust firm that emphasises good governance and accountability while bearing responsibilities that extend well beyond the present.

“I look forward to contributing my experience in governance and institutional oversight to support the board in carrying that responsibility forward,” he said.
