TV adaptation of beloved Anna Pigeon detective novels finally gets UK air date confirmed

A new TV adaptation of the beloved Anna Pigeon detective novels has finally had a UK air date confirmed – and it's coming soon.

The show follows Anna Pigeon, played by Tracy Spiridakos, a former city slicker who became a National Park Service park ranger after a devastating loss changed the trajectory of her life forever.

While Anna tries to outrun her demons, her focus turns to solving crimes that have taken place within national park grounds, no matter who or what gets in her way.

Episode 1 of Anna Pigeon will air at 8pm on Tuesday 6 October on U&Drama.

The drama kicks off with Anna toying with whether she should leave the park when she discovers the body of fellow ranger Sheila Drury, a death that is blamed on a mountain lion, but the explanation doesn’t sit right with Anna.

Upon weighing up the evidence it becomes clear to her that there's more to the story.

The new series is an adaptation of the books of the same name by Nevada Barr, a collection of 19 novels all featuring protagonist Anna Pigeon, the first of which was published in 1993.

Spiridakos is a Canadian actress who rose to prominence for the comedy series Majority Rules! and has also starred in Revolution, Chicago PD, and Bates Motel.

She leads the cast made up of Ronnie Rowe Jr (Star Trek: Discovery), Paulina Alexis (Reservation Dogs), Tricia Helfer (Lucifer), Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna Earp), Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz (Bria Mack Gets a Life), Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy), Cooper Levy (Overcompensating), Jordan Sledz (Heartland), Ryan Northcott (Tribal), Crystle Lightning (Three Pines) and Nikki Hallow (High School).

Despite being set in a Montana-based national park, all seven of the 42-minute episodes were filmed in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The screen adaptation by the USA Network was created by Morwyn Brebner, who also served as show runner, was directed by Lea Thompson and produced by Cineflix Studios, December Films, and SEVEN24 Films.

Anna Pigeon will air at 8pm on Tuesday 6 October on U&Drama.
