BRICS strength must bring tangible benefits: Prabowo

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the collective strength of BRICS countries must be translated into tangible benefits for the public and strengthen the voice of the Global South in shaping their own future.

The President, as cited in an official statement, made the remarks during the 2026 BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India, on Saturday.

According to President Prabowo, the collective strength of BRICS must not stop at paper commitments, but must be translated into real opportunities for the people.

"This is the kind of collective strength we need, strength that does not remain on paper, but translates into opportunities for our people; strength that enables the Global South to have a greater voice in shaping its own future," the President said.

He added that this collective strength must also be used to build a fairer and more equal international order. Cooperation among BRICS countries, he noted, could strengthen the voice and interests of the Global South in global governance.

"The same strength must also be used to build a fairer and equal international order. Together, we can make our strength count," Prabowo said.

The 18th BRICS Summit is expected to produce the New Delhi Declaration, establishing a collective framework to translate policy commitments into concrete action.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that discussions during the summit's limited session were meaningful and constructive, clearly laying out global realities.

Modi noted that a changing world requires reforming global institutions, particularly in terms of representation, responsiveness, and rules of engagement.

The PM called on BRICS members to collectively bridge the gap between commitments and results, noting that the declaration provides a clear direction for their shared goals.
