Dussehra celebrates the victory of good over evil

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami or Dasara, is one of the major Hindu festivals celebrated across India. It denotes the victory of good over evil, righteousness over unrighteousness and light over darkness. The festival falls on the tenth day, known as Dashami, of the Hindu lunar month of Ashvin, following the nine nights of Navratri. The celebrations are associated with Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana in the Ramayana and Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura in Hindu tradition.
