‘The Diplomat’ Season 4 Trailer: Keri Russell Confronts “Over The Line” White House

Netflix has released the explosive main trailer for Season 4 of The Diplomat, which sees tensions rising to a fever pitch between Kate (Keri Russell), her husband Hal (Rufus Sewall) and President Grace Penn (Alison Janney).

“The Russian sub that ran aground off this coast was carrying an apocalypse weapon. You stole it,” says a furious Kate to Hal after discovering Hal and Grace conspired together to steal the weapon.

“My concern is that the two of you together are … yeah….dangerous. Who pumps the brakes when it’s you two in the room?”

Per the logline,in Season 4 of The Diplomat two marriages threaten to eat each other alive. One catastrophic moment shatters the fragile peace Kate Wyler brokered between the US and UK, as well as the crumbling marriage she’s trying to save. While she fights to stem the bleeding, President Grace Penn and VP Hal Wyler’s conspiracy to steal Russia’s most powerful weapon hurtles the United States toward war. Kate and Todd, at best an uneasy pair, unite to stop the Grace-Hal alliance from upending the balance of power abroad and at home.

In addition to Russell and Sewell, Allison Janney, coming off her Supporting Actress Emmy win Monday night, stars as President Grace Penn, and Bradley Whitford as Todd Penn. Also starring Ato Essandoh, Ali Ahn, and Nana Mensah.

From creator, showrunner, and executive producer Debora Cahn, The Diplomat is a high-stakes, contemporary political drama about the transcendence and torture of long-term relationships between countries and people. It centers on Kate Wyler (Russell), the new U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom. She was supposed to go to Afghanistan. She’s great in a crisis zone. In a historic home … less so. War is brewing on one continent and boiling over on another. Kate will have to defuse international crises, forge strategic alliances in London, and adjust to her new place in the spotlight — all while trying to survive her marriage to fellow career diplomat and political star Hal Wyler (Sewell).

Janice Williams, Alex Graves, Keri Russell, Peter Noah, and Eli Attie are executive producers.
