Don Mueang International Airport

BANGKOK – Don Mueang International Airport will introduce pat-downs for passengers who pass through walk-through metal detectors or body scanners, replacing checks with handheld metal detectors from 1 November, the airport announced on Tuesday.

The change aims to strengthen aviation security in line with Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) regulations and recommendations from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The airport said the new procedure may slightly increase screening times and cause inconvenience during busy periods, advising passengers to allow extra time before their flights.

Passengers are encouraged to remove metal items while queuing and prepare their belongings for scanning. Those with physical limitations, injuries, implanted medical devices or who are pregnant should inform security staff so appropriate arrangements can be made.

The airport said screening procedures would be conducted appropriately and with respect for passengers’ rights.
