The Boys Officially Recast Homelander And Nobody Noticed

The Boys' legendary run on Prime Video has finally drawn to a close, and left us with all the trauma that it instigated across five seasons of utter chaos. It was a brilliant stint overall, and it brought to life some of the most bizarre and downright evil characters that we have ever seen on the small screen, in any genre.

Arguably the most enthralling presence of all of those was Homelander, whose megalomaniacal behavior causes the deaths of a lot of people (he's also exceptionally weird overall). A big reason for that was the performance of Anthony Starr, to the point where it's now difficult to imagine anyone else stepping into the spandex.

Homelander Breaks Free From Containment

We don't have to imagine it, though, as another actor has taken on the role in an entirely new medium, and done a spectacular job by all accounts.

Over on Reddit, one user shared a post drawing attention to The Boys: Trigger Warning, a VR stealth-action video game set in the universe of the Prime Video television series. Releasing earlier this year, it didn't get a lot of fan fare, but one thing it did bring us was actor Jake Green in the role of Homelander.

Known for his work across animation and video games, there were plenty of fans who wanted to say what a good job he did as the villain. "Cool that they got a few of the shows cast to voice their characters in it. Jake Green nailed it as Homelander!" one comment read.

He also took on the role during the character's stint in Mortal Kombat 1, where he also drew plenty of praise, "Green did a good job and got the mannerisms down really well so I don't think it's important who voiced him only that he did his job and did it well."

"He did a great job. Some of the lines are a little rough but as far as impressions go, I’d give him a thumbs up," a third said.

With Green now taking on the role of Homelander in several major franchises, he may well be the de facto choice for the character in any video game appearances he might make moving forward. Given how popular Homelander is right now (not sure if popular is the right word), don't be surprised if her crops up all over the place from here on out.

At the same time, fans of The Boys have two shows to look forward to in The Boys: Mexico, which is still waiting on a full greenlight, and Vought Rising, a 1950s prequel series featuring Soldier Boy and Stormfront, set to premiere on Prime Video in 2027.
