Grace Helbig Reveals Upcoming Surgery for Brain Tumors Three Years After Beating Breast Cancer

Translate

On Monday, the YouTuber and comedian posted a video on Instagram in which she shared that after going to the emergency room because of numbness in her legs, doctors found two tumors in her brain. “She missed me. My cancer missed me. Why wouldn’t she want to be in my body?”

Helbig will undergo brain surgery to remove the tumors on Wednesday, she said. “I feel very positive and optimistic because these are operable brain tumors, and there was a moment in time where it wasn’t certain. Quite scary.” She went on to explain that she and frequent collaborator Mamrie Hart would be cancelling all 2026 dates of their podcast tour, “This Might Get Weird,” and rescheduling them for 2027. “Obviously, we’ll take this week off of podcasting, but trust me, there’ll be plenty of stories for the next podcast, when that happens,” Helbig added.

Helbig was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer in the summer of 2023 after noticing a small lump in her breast. “Get those lumps checked,” she said at the time. “And don’t be afraid to ask the doctor what you think might be a stupid question.”

Helbig has approached both diagnoses with humor. “I’ve asked the doctors. They said the positive attitude can’t fix it, but it can help,” she joked in Monday’s video. In 2023, amid her first round of treatment, she said, “There’s some humor to be found here. The joke’s not lost on me that I’ve spent 15 years not using my boobs to get attention on the internet, and yet here we are. And that I’m announcing this during Cancer season. So what’s next? This is my job now and I’m going to fight this little bitch of a thing in my left breast as best and as strongly and as gracefully as I can. Pun intended.”
