Charles De Ketelaere has confirmed that he spoke with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential transfer during the summer window, revealing that Atalanta wanted €50m to sanction a sale: ‘In the end, they chose Ferran Torres’.
De Ketelaere confirms PSG approach during summer transfer window
De Ketelaere had been linked with a move to join PSG during the summer transfer window, a move that did not materialise, and now the Belgium international has revealed some of the details around his summer negotiations.
Speaking in an interview with Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure, De Ketelaere was asked if there was any truth to the rumours that Atalanta had come up with a €50m price tag during the summer.
“Yes, I think it was around that amount,” De Ketelaere confirmed.
“But, we have to find a team that is willing to spend that amount,” he continued. “Several teams could do it in the Premier League, but it didn’t happen. I spok to PSG, but in the end they chose Ferran Torres.
“I’m happy at Atalanta, I know how important it is to play regularly as a starter following my time with Milan. I’d like to fight for titles one day. I have that ambition, but I’m only 25 and still have time.”
De Ketelaere is without a goal thus far in 2026-27 after providing five goals and seven assists across all competitions for Atalanta last term.
He is expected to feature when Belgium take on Italy in the first Nations League fixture of the 2026-27 campaign at the Stadio Olimpico on Friday night.
