Jennifer Lawrence Cites ‘Hunger Games’ While Encouraging Fans to Vote: “Don’t Forget Who Burns With Us”

Jennifer Lawrence is channeling the excitement of her return to The Hunger Games franchise to encourage her followers to vote in the 2026 midterms.

The Oscar winner shared a photo of herself on her Instagram Story Tuesday doing the iconic three-finger salute from the film franchise while also referencing one of her lines from the films, writing, “Midterms bb. Don’t forget who burns with us.” She also shared a link to Vote.org in the social post.

In the third Hunger Games movie, Mockingjay – Part 1, Lawrence’s character Katniss Everdeen says in a promotional video for the rebel cause, “You can torture us and bomb us and burn our districts to the ground. But do you see that? Fire is catching, and if we burn, you burn with us!”

Lawrence was photographed doing the three-finger salute on Tuesday’s election day in New York City, also sporting a braid like her beloved former character of Katniss.

Last Wednesday, the actress confirmed on the Call Her Daddy podcast that she’d appear in the upcoming prequel film Sunrise on the Reaping alongside original stars Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson. Of returning to the Hunger Games franchise, she said the experience was “unbelievable. It was so crazy because it was the same crew. It was the same camera guys, the same AD, who I’ve worked with a million times … and Josh and Woody and it was so emotional. Like Josh and I like didn’t walk to the bathroom without our arms around each other. It was so beautiful.”

Lawrence’s midterms post follows that of an interview she gave last November, where she questioned if she should speak out against Trump after being vocal about her political stance during his first term.

“I don’t really know if I should,” Lawrence told The New York Times on its The Interview podcast about speaking out against Trump and politics. “During the first Trump administration, I felt like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But as we’ve learned, election after election, celebrities do not make a difference whatsoever on who people vote for. So then what am I doing? I’m just sharing my opinion on something that’s going to add fuel to a fire that’s ripping the country apart. We are so divided.”

Sunrise on the Reaping opens on Nov. 25 and will chronicle the story of Haymitch Abernathy’s time in the Hunger Games.
