Hong Kong’s Diocesan Boys’ School to become first to offer 3 university pathways

Hong Kong’s elite Diocesan Boys’ School (DBS) is set to offer the International Advanced Level curriculum from 2027, becoming the city’s first school to offer three university pathways if it secures the Education Bureau’s approval.

Headmaster Ronnie Cheng Kay-yen made the announcement on Saturday at a Primary One admission talk on campus, after the school obtained approval from Cambridge International Education and the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority.

“We are now waiting for the Education Bureau’s green light,” Cheng said in his speech to parents.

“We are going full throttle to offer the Diploma of Secondary Education, the International Baccalaureate and the International Advanced Level.

“We have 1,400 secondary students and 900 primary students. Their learning speed, ability and direction are very different. We should strive to find ways so they can find a suitable learning model.”

Cheng said Form Three students in the 2026-27 school year, which starts next Tuesday, were expected to opt for the Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE), International Baccalaureate (IB) or International Advanced Level (IAL) curricula.
