SABC 3 to televise Kaizer Chiefs’ crucial CAF Confederation Cup clash

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs’ crucial CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round second-leg encounter against Zambian side Red Arrows will be broadcast live on SABC 3.

Amakhosi head to Durban looking to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit and secure their place in the competition’s group stage.

Having lost the first leg away from home in Ndola, Zambia, Chiefs will need to win by at least two goals to secure qualification without relying on a penalty shootout.

The Glamour Boys will also be keen to keep a clean sheet as they look to avoid making their task even more difficult against the Zambian outfit.

Chiefs suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg, with Alassane Diarra heading home from a corner in the 76th minute to score the only goal of the match.

Kaizer Chiefs need to win

Amakhosi have previously lost the first leg of a CAF tie on eight occasions, failing to progress in seven of those encounters. They did, however, manage to overturn their most recent first-leg deficit in last season’s Confederation Cup first preliminary round against Kabuscorp.

A 1-0 away defeat in the first leg was followed by a 1-0 victory in the return leg. Chiefs eventually won the tie on penalties, which remains the club’s only continental encounter to have been decided by a shootout.

The Soweto giants will now hope to draw inspiration from that experience when they host Red Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
