Melaka polls: PH banks on candidates' experience to win more seats

Translate

MELAKA: Pakatan Harapan is banking on its candidates' experience in governance and public service to achieve its target of winning 18 of the 24 seats it is contesting in the Melaka election.

Melaka PH chairman Adly Zahari said candidates' capabilities were among three key factors considered when setting the target, alongside the strength of the party machinery and the level of public support.

"Some candidates have experience, while others, although new, have served in local authorities.

"Some also have experience in government administration, including at the federal level, while others are former civil servants," he said at PH's daily press conference at its main operations room here today.

Also present was Melaka DAP chairman Khoo Poay Tiong.

Adly, who is also the Bukit Katil candidate, said PH had also taken into account changes in public support in the constituencies it would contest when assessing its chances.

He said the coalition would continue engaging with the public, listening to their concerns and raising issues that could be addressed through government channels.

He added that government agencies continued to operate as usual, and that issues which could be resolved immediately should be addressed without waiting for the election to end.

The election process, he said, should not obstruct or disrupt the continuity of government services, particularly in matters requiring action in stages.

PH is fielding 24 candidates from its three component parties, comprising 10 from PKR and seven each from DAP and Amanah.
