Macau casino revenue slumps 10% in October against a tough comparable

Macau gross gaming revenue fell 10.0% year over year in October to 21.7B patacas ($2.68B), according to data from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau. The Macau casino sector has now seen five straight months of declining GGR and two months in a row of a double-digit decline. The gaming revenue tally for October was up 20% from the level seen in September and ran into a tough comparison of +16% growth for October 2025.
Following a brief period of pent-up demand after the World Cup ended, Macau has seen broad industry softness across both the VIP and mass market segments. Tighter regulatory scrutiny is also considered a factor in the GGR downturn. While the Golden Week holiday provided an early-month boost in October, the sluggish trend continued for the last 20 days.
For the first ten months of 2026, Macau GGR is up 1.6% year over year to 208.8B patacas.
