It’s Officially The End Of An Era For Transformers Fans This October

Misty Layne started as an actor and sketch comedy writer before deciding to concentrate mainly on writing. Utilizing both her love of television and film and her behind-the-scenes knowledge, she began a website reviewing films in 2013, with a focus on horror and indie media. Eventually, she began writing about all things television and film for other sites as well. Misty shares a home with five cats, a ton of books, and a fairly impressive vinyl collection.

It's the end of an era for Transformers. The Transformers franchise is huge, encompassing movies and television, both animated and live-action. Starting as a toy line, it soon evolved into a comic book series, which led to the first of many animated Transformers shows. In fact, the animated series have been the core of Transformers for nearly three decades, featuring numerous universes, characters (including the Autobots, of course), visual styles, and storylines. No matter when a show came out or whom it was meant for, each one marks a significant part of Transformers history.

Unfortunately for Transformers fans, an era nears its end as seven animated Transformers TV shows are officially slated to leave Prime Video at the end of October (via StreamScope). That means audiences have only a few days left to enjoy them again — at least on that streaming platform. The good news is that these series will still be available on other streamers, including free ones; fans will have to hop around to watch them all rather than viewing them in one convenient place.

From October 30, viewers will no longer be able to find the following seven shows on Prime Video. One animated Transformers film will also be gone after that date.

Beast Wars: Transformers follows a team of Maximals and a team of Predacons as they crash-land on an unknown planet and must take on their beast forms to survive. The enemies fight over stasis pods throughout the series. Transformers: Beast Machines is a direct sequel to Beast Wars: Transformers and follows the surviving Maximals as they finally return home, only to find their entire population gone and the planet ruled by the Vehicons.

Transformers: Armada is an anime series and part of the Unicron Trilogy that begins an entirely new universe for the franchise and has no ties with previous series. In this show, the Autobots and Decepticons are fighting over a smaller Transformer race known as Mini-cons. Transformers: Cybertron is the last of the Unicron Trilogy — sort of. Hasbro conceived it as such, but the Japanese production made it another unconnected story. However, the English dub modified it to establish a few links to the other two in the trilogy.

Transformers: Animated is another series separate from the other shows’ continuities (though it does reference them at times) and follows Optimus Prime and his crew as they discover the AllSpark in an asteroid. Transformers: Rescue Bots was designed to appeal to younger audiences and follows Rescue Bots teaming up with the Burns family, all first responders, as they learn important lessons about safety and hazards. Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy features the Rescue Bots training recruits. Finally, the 2013 film Transformers: Rescue Bots: Griffin Rock Rescue, also geared toward younger fans, shows the Rescue Bots helping protect the town of Griffin Rock.

Where Else To Watch These Classic Transformers Animated Series

It’s unfortunate that these animated series (and one movie) are leaving one of the more widely used streaming services. Thankfully, they won't be lost in the streaming void forever or left to languish on some obscure platform. The good news is that fans can keep watching these fan-favorite classic animated series, featuring some of the best new Transformers characters introduced since 2000, on other streaming platforms, some of which are free to use.

If viewers don’t mind ads, almost every show, except Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy, can be found on Tubi for free. Paid options are available, too, on Apple TV for Beast Wars: Transformers, Transformers Cybertron, Transformers: Animated, and both Rescue Bots series. It’s unclear how long these Transformers classics will remain on these other services, including Roku, Hoopla, and Plex, so checking in with Just Watch or a similar site will keep fans up to date on where to find their favorite series next.
