Iran FM Araghchi denounces 'free hand' given to Israel ahead of United Nations General Assembly

According to Araghchi, Iran's primary goal during UNGA is to "defend the legitimacy, rights and interests of the Iranian people."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Israel of being given "a completely free hand to do whatever it wishes" while speaking to reporters upon his arrival in New York City on Monday night, ahead of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Araghchi, Iran's primary goal during UNGA is to "defend the legitimacy, rights and interests of the Iranian people."

He also denounced other countries' governments for not condemning "atrocities" which had allegedly been committed in Iran.

"In the face of the atrocities that occurred - where 168 innocent children were deliberately massacred in a single instant - these countries do not even issue a simple condemnation."

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that, during his visit to New York, Araghchi would hold "talks and consultations" with officials and foreign ministers.

Araghchi claims Israel seeking stronger grip on US policy

Araghchi, before his arrival in New York, accused Israel of having a "grip" on US policy in Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Minister cited an article by Israel Hayom, which he called "Miriam Adelson's publication," in which the writer recommended that Israel deepen its military, technological, intelligence, and economic integration with the US so financial harm to Israel would rebound onto Washington as well.

"High time for Washington to break free from these shackles," Araghchi said.

Iranian official compares US to Hitler over fuel price increase blame

Several hours after Araghchi's arrival, Baghaei compared the US's actions against Iran to Hitler's during World War II in a post on X/Twitter.

Baghaei wrote that the US blaming Iran for the increase in fuel prices was similar to Hitler framing his invasion of Poland as an act of defense.

"As if the public's memory is short enough to forget who actually initiated the war of aggression, and whose actions created the crisis that led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the disruption of commercial shipping," Baghaei wrote.

"When the instigator of an unlawful 'war of choice' blames the victim for the fallout, should this be viewed as 'strategic brilliance', or is it simply a textbook symptom of 'The March of Folly'?!"
