R Madhavan REACTS to son Vedaant's Asian Games performance

Actor R Madhavan’s son, swimmer Vedaant Madhavan, made his Asian Games debut on Monday, competing for India in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay.However, as reported by PTI, the Indian team failed to qualify for the final after finishing ninth in the heats.

Vedaant, along with Sajan Prakash, Dhakshan Shashikumar and Aneesh Sunil, clocked 7:24.32 to finish ninth among 13 teams.Only the top eight teams advance to the final.After the qualifying round, Vedaant took to his Instagram Story to share the disappointing news. He wrote, "Missed finals by 0.2 and best Indian by 0.5, 200 free day after." Resharing the post, dad R Madhavan shared Vedaant's story and replied with a string of 'praying hands' emoticons.

Vedaant will compete in two more events - the 200m freestyle (September 23) and the 200m backstroke (September 25).Previosuly, the proud dad gushed about his son's career as a professional swimmer. Opening up about his son's routine, Madhavan revealed that it takes extraordinary discipline and focus when dedicated to the sport. Speaking to TOI, he said, "He’s 6’3, has a swimmer’s body and follows a hyper-disciplined lifestyle.

Even eating is an exercise for him; he doesn’t just sit down for dinner, he has to focus on chewing and on meal balance, among other things.

I wish I had that kind of discipline; I think I’m actually quite lazy- I just get away with it by calling myself a creative."In a recent conversation with Kumudam, Madhavan said that his son 'chose swimming himself'. In his chat, he revealed that right from age 12, he began focusing on swimming. He said, "From the age of 12, he started taking protein shakes and began practising rigorously, not because a parent pushed him toward it, but because he had already decided this was what he wanted. The discipline was never imposed. It was built from inside.
