The first fully authorised Fleetwood Mac documentary has finally been given a release date and a brand new teaser, which you can see below.

Announced back in 2024, Fleetwood Mac: The Chain is the “definitive” chronicle of the legendary band. “From director Frank Marshall, this Apple Original Films documentary will take you on the epic journey of the generation-defining Fleetwood Mac.”

Apple also confirmed that the documentary will consist of new interviews with the band’s surviving members, never-before-seen footage, and archival interviews with the late Christine McVie.

It’s now been announced that Fleetwood Mac: The Chain will be premiering on Apple TV on January 29, 2027. Check out the first-look teaser below.

“For the first time ever, Fleetwood Mac is telling their story in their own words,” reads the announcement. “The documentary offers fans a definitive and unprecedented look at Fleetwood Mac’s story, bringing together the voices, memories and perspectives of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.”

Fleetwood Mac: The Chain will “explore how the band’s trials and tribulations, personal resilience and musical dexterity combined to create songs that have stood the test of time and are enduring masterpieces,” said Apple.

“It takes fans through the highs and lows of their brilliant career, illuminating the exceptional ingredients each member brought to the band’s uncommon alchemy — a musical union that sold more than 220 million records worldwide. The documentary explores what allowed this combination of artists to create singular musical work again and again, and what drew them back together and held them there when every possible pressure, both outside and inside the band, threatened to blow them apart.”

Speaking about the documentary earlier this year, Buckingham said the process of making it had been “a very circular healing process for all of us.” The musician went on to dodge a question about a possible tour, instead saying the “most important thing” was the fact he and Nicks had reconciled.

“Stevie and I are talking all the time now,” he added. “[2027] should be a pretty interesting year, because I think quite a few things will reveal themselves.”
