‘Final Fantasy’ confirms 40th anniversary ‘Distant Worlds’ orchestral tour

Square Enix have confirmed a ‘Distant Worlds’ orchestral tour to celebrate 40 years of the Final Fantasy franchise.
The original Final Fantasy was released in 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment system, with players taking control of The Warriors Of Light to save the world from the Elemental Fiends. Since then, 15 mainline sequels have followed alongside numerous spin-offs, remakes and adaptations.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Final Fantasy, Square Enix has organised a new concert series.
‘Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy Eternal / 悠久’ will celebrate the enduring music of the series’ iconic composers, including Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzu, Naoshi Mizuta, Hitoshi Sakimoto, Yoko Shimomura, and Masayoshi Soken. “HD videos created by Square Enix accompany the music, celebrating four decades of Final Fantasy and the evolution of video game technology,” explains a press release.

“Were you there forty years ago when the “Prelude” played for the first time? Were you there thirty years ago when “Opening – Bombing Mission” first brought players to Midgar? Whether your adventures started in Cornelia, Eorzea, Valisthea, or elsewhere, we invite you and your fellow warriors of light to continue your journey with this new concert series,” the description of the ‘Distant Worlds’ concert continues.
The ‘Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy Eternal / 悠久’ tour kicks off in Japan in March 2027 before visiting North America and the UK.
