KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 — The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 4.41 per cent to 35.06 per cent on imports of flat-rolled products from China, Taiwan and Vietnam, effective today.

The ministry said the provisional duties, which will be imposed for up to 120 days, are necessary to prevent further injury to the domestic industry following a preliminary determination that found sufficient evidence to warrant further investigation.

The investigation involves imports of flat-rolled products of other alloy steel and non-alloy steel, plated or coated with aluminium and zinc, originating or exported from the three countries.

“The anti-dumping investigation was initiated in accordance with the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 (Act 504) and the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Regulation 1994 (Regulations) on July 17, 2026, following a petition by NS Bluescope Malaysia Sdn Bhd on behalf of the domestic industry.

“The petitioner claimed that the products were being imported into Malaysia at a price lower than the selling price in their domestic markets, and this has caused material injury to the domestic industry in Malaysia,” it said in a statement.

MITI said the preliminary determination was completed under Section 23 of Act 504. The government decided to impose provisional measures in the form of anti-dumping duties secured through guarantees equivalent to the dumping margins.

The final determination is expected to be made no later than March 6, 2027, the statement said. — Bernama
