LGBT migrant charity that claims British state kills asylum seekers pockets almost £1million of lottery money

An LGBT migrant charity that claims the British state kills asylum seekers has pocketed almost £1million of lottery money.

Rainbow Migration campaigns to bring 'LGBTQI+' asylum seekers to Britain, despite already record numbers of migrants securing visas after claiming they are lesbian, gay or transgender.

The charity has launched a campaign – which it claims has the backing of 112 MPs – to end all migration detention for LGBT asylum seekers.

Rainbow Migration took £952,000 from National Lottery funds in 2023 and 2024 to cover staffing costs and 'core costs', according to its accounts.

Shadow culture secretary Rebecca Paul told the Mail: 'Lottery money should be spent transparently and responsibly.

'It is a disgrace it has used [the funds] to bankroll this sort of political campaigning. Taxpayers will rightly ask why their money is supporting this.'

The charity challenges the Government's migration policies and has made extraordinary claims about Britain's migration system - something it says is 'built on the legacy of the colonial-era British Raj'.

One 'deranged' article posted on its website for 'Trans Awareness Month' last year claimed 'the division of people into two sexes is rooted in colonialism, not biology' and said 'transphobia is a colonial export'.

In another 2025 post, the charity accused the British state of harming LGBT asylum seekers so they are 'metaphorically or literally killed'.

It claims the state's policies affecting migrants are 'deliberately hostile' to the extent they are to blame for killing them.

Rainbow Migration has also published a recommended 'Pride 2026' reading list.

The books include Homosexual Intifada: A Queer Palestinian Anthology, Black Trans Feminism and This Queer Arab Family.

The charity helps individuals claiming to be lesbian, gay or trans fleeing homophobic countries with their applications to settle in the UK.

Under international law, countries are legally barred from deporting individuals to places where they face a risk of torture, persecution or death.

That makes it difficult to refuse applications from lesbian, gay or trans people – something the Tories say makes the system easy to exploit.

Law firms have been caught charging thousands to advise migrants how to claim to be gay to apply for asylum.

And critics highlight the record numbers of lesbian, gay and trans asylum seekers as proof the system is being abused.

It rose by 90 per cent from 2021 to 2023, when there were 1,400 claims. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: 'Charities like this want to make it harder to deport illegal migrants and easier to undermine our borders.'

A National Lottery Community Fund spokesman said: 'We are proud of the work that our grant holders do to make life better for those who need it most.'
