Man found dead with mutilated body near Plateau market
Panic gripped residents of Pankshin community in the Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State after a man was found dead behind the Monday Market in the area on Tuesday.
The discovery, which was made in the early hours of Tuesday, threw the community into confusion as residents noticed that some parts of the deceased’s body had been cut off.
Some residents, who confirmed the incident to PUNCH Metro in Jos on Tuesday, said the identity of the deceased and circumstances surrounding his death remained unknown.
A resident, Johnson Dawul, said, “We woke up this morning to see the corpse lying behind the Monday Market. It was a shocking sight. What is even more disturbing is that some parts of his body, including his penis, were cut off by those who killed him.”
Another resident, who also confirmed the incident, said, “Nobody knows who the man is and nobody knows what happened to him. When we saw the body, we immediately alerted security personnel, who arrived in a police vehicle and evacuated the corpse.”

It was learnt that security operatives evacuated the remains of the deceased, while an investigation was launched to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death and identify those responsible.
When contacted, the spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, had yet to respond to enquiries about the incident as of the time of filing this report.
