2027: Take Tinubu’s message to grassroots, Aiyedatiwa urges Ondo women

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has urged women in the state to take the message of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to communities across the state ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Aiyedatiwa gave the charge on Tuesday while inaugurating the Ondo State chapter of Tinubu Torch Bearers, a national women’s support group for the President, in Akure.

Represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, the governor described women as a major force in politics and urged members of the group to use their influence to mobilise support for Tinubu.

He said, “In all of this, the Tinubu Torchbearers have an important role to play. You are expected to take the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda to the grassroots—not through propaganda, but through facts, engagement and constructive dialogue.

‎”I am particularly pleased that women are at the heart of this initiative. Nigerian women have always played a central role in the political, social and economic development of our nation. From the marketplace to the civil service, from agriculture to entrepreneurship, from education to community leadership, women remain indispensable to national development. Their voices and participation must therefore remain central to our democratic process.”

Aiyedatiwa said the Renewed Hope Agenda had focused on infrastructure and grassroots development, citing road, rail, bridge and power projects, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway.

He said the administration’s emphasis on local government financial autonomy and programmes targeted at taking development closer to communities should be communicated to voters at the grassroots.

‎”As a state, we in Ondo have experienced the benefits of constructive collaboration with the Federal Government. The Federal Government’s policies and interventions align with what we are doing under OUR EASE development agenda,” he added.

He urged the newly inaugurated chapter to regard its role as “a call to service and a commitment to the progress of our party, our state and our country.”

The governor’s wife, Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, said the group’s inauguration reflected support for Tinubu’s leadership and re-election bid.

She described the 2027 election as a choice about continuity, saying the group should take the President’s message to communities across the state.

Also speaking, the APC National Women Leader, Mary Idele, urged members of the group to mobilise women across Ondo State for Tinubu ahead of the election.

“Take the torch to your house, tell them that no vacancy in Aso Rock, tell them that Tinubu has no rival, Tinubu will win 90 per cent of the Nigerian women’s votes in January,” she said.
