India’s Lovlina Borgohain confirmed a medal after winning the women’s 75kg boxing quarterfinal at the Nishio Gymnasium on Monday.
The 28-year-old beat South Korea’s Seong Suyeon 5-0 by unanimous decision to progress to the semifinal and assure herself of at least a bronze.
The Assam native had won a silver in the middleweight category three years ago in Hangzhou.
She will face the winner of the bout between Kazakhstan’s Natalya Bogdanova and Uzbekistan’s Aziza Zokirova in the final four.
Lovlina won a silver at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year, losing to Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree in the final.
