Every UK police investigation into Epstein and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as new probe announced

Police Scotland is the latest force in the UK to announce an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The force revealed it had received “information” and a probe is at a “very early stage” into the time the disgraced royal spent with the late paedophile financier and Ghislaine Maxwell at Balmoral.
Epstein visited Balmoral in 1999, reportedly on the invitation of the then-Prince Andrew. An undated photograph from this period appears to show Epstein and Maxwell relaxing at the Glen Beg log cabin on the royal estate.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor has previously denied any wrongdoing over his Epstein links.
Forces across the country announced they were looking into allegations relating to Epstein after a tranche of two million documents were released by the US Department of Justice that showed Epstein had extensive contact with a number of British figures. This included the former Duke of York and the disgraced former US ambassador Peter Mandelson.
The National Police Chiefs’ Council set up a national co-ordination group earlier this year to support UK police services seeking information from overseas law enforcement.

An NPCC spokesperson said: “The national co-ordination group is working with the National Crime Agency to ensure specialist support for forces seeking information from overseas law enforcement agencies through approved channels.
“This will support forces to understand any potential impact arising from the millions of documents that have been made
“It may take some time due to the volume of material and the complexity of international jurisdictions, but policing and its law enforcement partners are taking this matter extremely seriously, and will assess all information thoroughly.
“The sharing of documents related to oversees criminal investigations between law enforcement agencies in different countries is an extremely complex process, and not straight forward.”
Here are all the police forces looking allegations against Epstein and Mr Mountbatten-Windsor:
Police Scotland

Police Scotland said on 30 October they were in the early stages of an investigation examining the time Mr Mountbatten-Windsor spent with Epstein in Balmoral, the Highland home of the royal family. Pictures previously released by the Department of Justice in the US appear to show the two on a shooting trip at the estate.
A spokesperson said: “We have received information and active inquiries are ongoing but these are at a very early stage.
“All inquiries are evidence-led, with the needs of victim survivors at the heart of those inquiries.
“We would never confirm details of ongoing inquiries and it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
The force previously urged people to come forward about Epstein's private jet using Edinburgh Airport.
Thames Valley Police
In February, Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The news came after reports the former prince shared confidential reports from his role as the UK’s trade envoy with Epstein.
Officers confirmed the force was assessing a number of claims against a man in his 60s from Norfolk, including the allegations of sharing confidential reports.
TVP also said it was assessing claims made by a woman that she was sent to the UK by Epstein for a “sexual encounter” with Mr Mountbatten-Windsor at Royal Lodge in 2010.
In May, the force issued a plea for information and urged any Epstein survivors with information to assist the investigation to come forward.
“In terms of Epstein victims and survivors, we hope that anyone with relevant information will come forward, and I really want to stress that our door is open,” said Oliver Wright, the assistant chief constable for crime and criminal justice.
Officers said the offence of misconduct in a public office is “complex” and can take many forms - including corruption, financial misconduct, and sexual misconduct.
Surrey Police
Surrey Police announced on 19 May that they are investigating two separate allegations of historic child sexual abuse.
The force said the inquiry related to one report linked to locations in Surrey and Berkshire in the mid 1990s to 2000.
The other, it said, related to west Surrey in the mid to late 1980s. No arrests have been made.
The latest investigation comes after Surrey Police called for witnesses to come forward in February, after a redacted report released by the US Department of Justice in December set out allegations of human trafficking and sexual assault, which allegedly took place in Virginia Water between 1994 and 1996.
The force’s plea came after an FBI report from July 2020, which appeared in the files, alleged sexual abuse against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell in Surrey in the mid-1990s.

Essex Police
Essex Police said it was assessing information about private flights to and from Stansted Airport following information released as part of the document dump.
Former prime minister Gordon Brown claimed the files showed in “graphic detail” how paedophile financier Epstein was able to use the Essex-based airport to “fly in girls from Latvia, Lithuania and Russia”.
A spokesperson for Stansted Airport said the airport “does not manage or have any visibility of passenger arrangements on privately-operated aircraft”.
Bedfordshire Police
Bedfordshire Police is reviewing materials published as part of the Epstein tranche relating to the use of private flights in and out of London Luton Airport.
Norfolk Police
Norfolk Police confirmed the force is also reviewing documents brought to their attention, but said they had not yet received any allegations and were not currently conducting any investigations.
Metropolitan Police
The Met has launched an investigation into Lord Mandelson for misconduct in public office offences following claims he passed market-sensitive information to Epstein.
Commander Ella Marriott, of the Metropolitan Police, said: “Following the further release of millions of court documents in relation to Jeffrey Epstein by the United States Department of Justice, the Met received a number of reports into alleged misconduct in public office including a referral from the UK Government.
“I can confirm that the Metropolitan Police has now launched an investigation into a 72-year-old man, a former government minister, for misconduct in public office offences.
“The Met will continue to assess all relevant information brought to our attention as part of this investigation and won’t be commenting any further at this time.”

Wiltshire Police
Wiltshire Police is assisting the Met with its investigation.
A spokesperson said: “We are assisting the Met with its investigation. We are actively reviewing our records in relation to this matter.
“We cannot definitively say that we have not had any allegations at this stage.”
West Midlands Police
West Midlands Police has said it is assessing information that has emerged in relation to private flights into and out of Birmingham Airport from the Epstein files.
