PM reviews bread, subsidized goods supplies with Minister of Supply and Internal Trade

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly directed on Sunday, September 27, 2026, the Supply and Internal Trade Ministry to maintain daily monitoring of the bread and subsidized-goods systems and ensure adequate supplies of essential commodities in the markets.

During a meeting with Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, Madbouly stressed the need to maintain regular supplies, ensure sufficient stocks and respond promptly to complaints or disruptions affecting consumers’ access to essential goods.

The meeting reviewed the availability of flour for bakeries and the regular production and distribution of subsidized bread, as well as supplies of essential commodities through various outlets.

Farouk said the ministry was monitoring stocks and distribution rates to ensure supplies meet demand.

The minister also outlined measures to review and verify subsidy-card data to improve the efficiency of the subsidy system and ensure benefits reach eligible recipients while safeguarding their rights.

Farouk further reviewed strategic stocks and measures to secure market needs, maintain safe inventory levels and monitor the movement and prices of commodities.

He also reported progress on an initiative to reduces commodity prices.

The ministry recently added 18 products to the initiative, bringing the total number of discounted goods to 30 from 1, as part of efforts to expand supplies, diversify available products and ease the cost of living.
