Coronation Street airs exposure of Idris Nazir's cruel plot against Carla Connor-Swain in early ITVX release

Translate

Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) is on a mission to bring down Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King) in Coronation Street - and he's just been caught out.

Earlier this week, Idris listened in as Carla and her factory manager Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) attempted to secure a crucial contract during a business meeting at the Chariot Square Hotel.

When the potential client left to nip to the loo, Idris cornered him and painted Carla as untrustworthy.

As a result of the deal falling through, she told wife Lisa (Vicky Myers) that it was likely that she wouldn't be able to give her workforce their much-deserved Christmas bonus. But her predicament was about to get a whole lot worse.

We saw Idris instructing teenager Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) to break into the factory with a lighter and cause chaos. He picked up foster mum Sally Metcalfe's (Sally Dynevor) spare keys from her house, and disappeared in through the side door...

Later that day, Sally alerted Carla and Lisa to the fact that the alarm was going off. They didn't find the business in flames - but waterlogged. The sprinkler system had gone off, and Carla declared that it was "the end".

Little did Brody realise, someone had spotted him.

In today's episode, Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) confronted Idris and Brody at Speed Daal after witnessing the teenager breaking into the factory. Under pressure, Idris revealed that he had paid Brody to trigger the sprinklers, deliberately destroying the important order in an attempt to force Carla into selling the business.

Despite her anger, Leanne agreed to conceal the truth about their involvement.

Meanwhile, Carla gathered the factory employees and delivered the devastating news that the business would have to close, leaving her able to offer them just four weeks' pay.

In a private conversation with Lisa, she admitted that she had failed to arrange the necessary maintenance for the sprinkler system and feared this would give the insurance company grounds to reject her claim.

Elsewhere, Brody began to regret his actions and was appalled by Idris and Leanne's apparent indifference towards the factory's closure and the livelihoods of the employees who would be left without work.

Will he come clean to Carla about Idris's interference?
