The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects over the alleged rape of two minors in separate incidents in Zaki and Katagum Local Government Areas of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, saying four suspects were arrested over the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in Sakwa District, Zaki LGA.

Habib said the victim’s 50-year-old father reported the incident at the Sakwa Divisional Police Headquarters on October 29, a day after the alleged offence.

He said, “On 28th October, 2026, at about 0900hrs, four male suspects conspired and abducted his 12-year-old daughter to the room of one of them and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.”

The suspects were identified as Badamasi Mohammed, 18; Bello Mohammed, 18; Mustapha Bappah, 18; and Bashiru Sha’tubu, 22. All four are residents of Sakwa District.

The police spokesperson said the victim was taken to General Hospital, Zaki, for medical examination, while the suspects were arrested.

“Preliminary investigation has been concluded, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation,” he added.

In a separate incident, police arrested a 15-year-old boy over the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl in Buskuri Village, Azare, in Katagum LGA.

Habib said the victim’s 45-year-old father reported the incident at the Azare Divisional Police Headquarters on October 29.

He said the incident allegedly occurred on October 15, when the suspect lured the girl to a farm and sexually assaulted her.

“On receipt of the complaint, detectives rushed the victim to General Hospital, Azare, for medical examination. The suspect was promptly arrested and has been transferred to SCID, Bauchi, for discreet investigation,” he stated.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the incidents and reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence and child abuse.

He said the suspects would be thoroughly investigated and charged to court after the investigations.

The commissioner also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of sexual abuse to the nearest police station.
