The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has condoled with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the families of personnel who lost their lives in the tragic aircraft crash in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State, committing to ensuring proper observance of the national flag in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of three days of mourning.

The Director General of the Agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, described the tragic loss of the personnel as a painful moment for the nation, noting that their service was marked by courage, conviction and unwavering commitment to Nigeria, and that their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Issa-Onilu said the fallen personnel represented courage, discipline, patriotism and commitment to national service, stressing that their dedication to protecting the nation remained worthy of honour and remembrance.

In line with the President’s declaration of three days of national mourning and directive to fly the national flag at half-mast, he said the Agency will intensify efforts to promote proper observance of the national flag during the mourning period.

The DG also noted that the national flag remained a powerful symbol of Nigeria’s sovereignty, unity and shared identity, urging citizens to observe the mourning period with the dignity and respect befitting the sacrifice of the fallen personnel.

He commiserated with the Chief of the Air Staff, officers and personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, assuring them of the Agency’s solidarity as they mourn their colleagues who paid the supreme price in the service of the nation.

He concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed personnel and for God to grant their families, colleagues and the entire Nigerian Air Force the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, while reaffirming NOA’s commitment to promoting national values, civic responsibility and proper respect for national symbols across the country.
