Ryan Gosling’s Open Invite And Warner Bros. Developing ‘Flintstones’ Live-Action Reboot About Bamm-Bamm – The Dish

EXCLUSIVE: Ryan Gosling and his Open Invite producing partner Jessie Henderson, we hear, are in early development on a live-action Flintstones feature project at Warner Bros that would center around a grown-up Bamm-Bamm Rubble.

Right now we hear the duo are looking for a writer.

The first time that Bamm Bamm went from child with a banging club to grown-up was in the 1971-1972 Saturday morning CBS animated series, The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show in which he was a teenager, dating Pebbles, attending Bedrock High School, landing his first job, with the duo forming a band, the Bedrock Rockers. Fred and Wilma Flintstone, and Barney and Betty Rubble made cameos in the series.

The early 1960s Hanna-Barbera animated series which is in the Warner Bros wheelhouse has been adapted to screen as live-action twice before, with 1994’s The Flinstones and 2000’s The Flinstones in Viva Rock Vegas which combined grossed $401M at the global box office. The 1994 installment starred John Goodman as Fred Flintstone, Rick Moranis as Barney Rubble, Elizabeth Perkins as Wilma Flinstone and Rosie O’Donnell as Barney Rubble. Viva Rock Vegas rebooted the cast with Mark Addy as Fred Flintstone, Stephen Baldwin as Barney Rubble, Kristen Johnston as Wilma, and Jane Krakowski as Betty.

Gosling and Henderson are producers on the upcoming romantic drama Love of Your Life from director Rachel Morrison, starring Margaret Qualley, Aaron Pierre, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Gabriel Basso and Catherine Keener. The pic is world premiering at TIFF next month.

Gosling had a massive blockbuster this year in Amazon MGM Studio’s Project Hail Mary which he starred in and produced, that Lord and Miller directed movie grossing a massive $684M global worldwide. An awards campaign is in the works. It was announced he’s reteaming with director Shawn Levy after their Memorial Day title next year, Star Wars: Starfighter, on the Marvel Studios 2028 reboot of Ghost Rider. As has been widely reported, the actor, Margot Robbie, director Greta Gerwig and Mattel remain in talks for a Barbie sequel with Warner Bros., that pic at a global gross of $1.44B being the studio’s highest grossing movie ever in its history. Gosling also starred in and produced Universal’s David Leitch directed action title The Fall Guy.
