'King': Shah Rukh Khan's film secures Rs 665 crore in pre-release deals; see how 'Jawan' performed in advance bookings

Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film 'King' has reportedly secured pre-release deals worth Rs 665 crore. The figure places the project among the biggest commercial ventures in recent Hindi cinema.Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film has attracted substantial business interest before its theatrical release. However, its impressive pre-release numbers also come with significant expectations. The film will need a strong theatrical performance to meet the commercial targets associated with its reported budget and distribution agreements.

'King' secures major domestic and overseas distribution deals

According to reports, the film's pre-release business includes agreements covering theatrical distribution, digital streaming, music and satellite rights.

Pinkvilla reported that Pen Marudhar acquired the domestic theatrical distribution rights for Rs 250 crore. The international distribution rights were reportedly secured by Phars Films for Rs 175 crore. The overseas agreement has emerged as one of the biggest components of the film's reported business. The report described it as the “highest-ever overseas minimum guarantee” for an Indian film. The deal reflects the commercial expectations surrounding Shah Rukh Khan's international market appeal.

THIS OTT platform reportedly acquires digital rights for Rs 150 crore

The digital streaming agreement has contributed another substantial amount to the film's pre-release total. Netflix has reportedly purchased the streaming rights for Rs 150 crore. The music rights have fetched Rs 65 crore, while the satellite rights are valued at Rs 25 crore.Together with the domestic and international theatrical agreements, these deals bring the reported pre-release business to Rs 665 crore.Despite the reported value of the digital agreement, the final amount may not be entirely fixed. Moneycontrol reported that the Netflix contract includes a clause linked to the film's theatrical performance. This means the final value of the streaming deal could change depending on its box-office results.

Shah Rukh Khan's 'King' faces significant box-office expectations

The reported Rs 665 crore pre-release business has already placed 'King' under considerable commercial attention.

However, these agreements should not be confused with the film's theatrical collection. The amount comes from different business arrangements secured before its release. The reported production budget and the expectations attached to its distribution deals will make the box-office performance an important factor.
