Lashkar commander Hashim Moosa killed, body recovered with war-like stores

NEW DELHI: The body of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Mohammad Asif alias Hashim Moosa was recovered along with war-like stores after he was killed, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said.

The recovery of the slain terrorist’s body and the war-like stores was reported by the Army.This comes as fierce fighting broke out in the higher reaches of central Kashmir’s Budgam district, where the Army on Tuesday killed a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist during an encounter, security officials said.

The encounter took place in the Korag area of Yousmarg after the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF Srinagar launched a joint search operation based on specific intelligence inputs and troops noticed suspicious activity while searching the area.The troops challenged the suspected terrorists, who responded by opening fire, prompting the security forces to retaliate. The ensuing exchange of gunfire left one terrorist dead, whom the Army identified as a member of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba.
