CHONBURI — 19 September 2026, A 41-year-old woman gave birth unexpectedly outside a shopping mall in Pattaya, prompting motorcycle taxi riders and passersby to rush to the newborn’s aid before rescuers located the mother inside the mall.

At around 11:00, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Foundation received a report of a newborn found outside Central Beach Festival Pattaya on Pattaya Second Road in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri.

Rescue workers, medical personnel and Pattaya City Police were sent to the scene.

Responders found a newborn girl lying on the ground near a fence surrounding a dinosaur exhibition. The baby was unclothed and still attached to the umbilical cord, with blood visible at the scene.

The baby initially did not cry but began crying loudly when rescuers started providing assistance.

Nearby motorcycle taxi riders quickly used a cloth to wrap the newborn and held her while contacting rescue workers. The mother was not initially found at the scene, prompting rescuers and mall security staff to search for her.

They later found the mother, identified as Atitaya, 41, from Bangkok, inside a restroom on the mall’s ground floor. She was reportedly extremely weak and exhausted.

Rescuers assisted her back to the scene before transporting both mother and daughter to Pattaya Hospital for treatment.

The newborn weighed approximately 1.6 kilograms. The mother was suffering from heavy bleeding and severe exhaustion. Both remained under close medical supervision.

Atitaya told responders that this was her third pregnancy and that she was around seven to eight months pregnant. She said she experienced severe abdominal pain while sitting outside the mall that morning before suddenly going into labor.

After giving birth, she went to the restroom to clean herself before being found by rescuers.

Surchat Singnonthat, 30, a motorcycle taxi rider who witnessed the incident, said he saw the woman sitting outside the mall before she staggered toward the fence around the dinosaur exhibition.

She appeared to be in labor and shortly afterward the baby was born and fell onto the ground, he said.

Surchat said those who witnessed the incident were shocked but immediately moved to help the newborn and contacted emergency responders. The mother had walked away from the area before being located in the mall restroom.
